Racquet Sports
The Fisher Tennis Center comprises four tennis courts, a large viewing pavilion (The Adams Pavilion) and the Holway Pro Shop which houses a kitchenette, a men’s bathroom, a women’s bathroom, a pro shop and a storage room. Tennis members in good standing may utilize the tennis courts in accordance with the published rules. The Fisher Tennis Center facilities are currently not available for lease/rent.
Junior Tennis
The Junior Tennis program offers an eight-week season on our four private courts located at the Fisher Family Tennis Center. Any child that resides in the dwelling of a Colony Club member may participate in the program. Special rates apply for participants with an SBCC Family Tennis membership.
Age Groups
The Junior Tennis program is run by SBCC’s head tennis professional, along with a staff of assistants, and offers these programs for all ages and skill levels:
Peewee tennis: For ages 4 to 5 years old first timers to learn how to hold a racquet and learn basic tennis skills. Coach Katherine uses smaller nets, slower tennis balls, and focuses on hand eye coordination and fun rallies with the kids.
Junior Hopefuls: For ages 6 to 9 years old players who will focus on ground strokes, serves, and net play. They will also be introduced to game rules and strategies. For Camp age kids, this can immediately follow the camp day with parent permission to be arranged with the parent coordinator.
Team Tennis: For ages 9 to 16 years, or younger, at the Pro’s discretion (for players who can serve from the baseline and return serve). Includes intra-club practice two days per week and weekly match play against other neighboring junior tennis programs. The team is split into two groups, the “A- Team” and the “B-Team,” based both on age and ability at the Pro’s discretion. The “up or down” age has traditionally been 12 years old – meaning a strong 12 year old would play up or a developing 12 year old may play down. The B-Team competitions use either orange ball on a 60 ft court or green ball, full court. B-Team players need to be able to hold orange ball rallies and serve from the 60ft court with some consistency. A-Team players play full court, yellow ball.
Private lessons: Available by contacting the Pro directly for either private or semi-private lessons. As a reminder, the SBCC Pro is the only tennis pro authorized to use the Club’s tennis courts for tennis lesson.
Special Events: Include the Tiny Gregg tennis tournament, scheduled the 7th week of the season, and our traditional opening day Pizza Party.

Pickleball
We are excited to offer pickleball and add new offerings to our membership. To continue to grow and innovate as a club, it is important that we take into full consideration both the benefits and sensitivities new additions like pickleball bring to the SBCC membership, and neighbors, and community.
Pickleball Regulations: All Pickleball players must have a current SBCC Tennis membership to play Pickleball. Social-only members are not permitted to participate in any Pickleball activities including, general play, clinics*, or other. New members will be required to purchase a Membership Certificate as well. Tennis members in good standing are not allowed to bring “guests” to play unless their specific membership level allows for guest privileges—this refers to the Tennis Membership with Guest Privileges (TG).
*Exception—non-tennis members and social members that express interest in participating in the Friday (10:30-11:30) pickleball clinic(s) will be permitted to participate in (1) one clinic to better understand if membership is of interest.
For information on getting a tennis membership, click here.
Pickleball Conduct: All players must abide by a code of conduct that demonstrates a sensitivity to fellow players and abutting neighbors. This code of conduct will be available for review and visible on-site for Pickleball play. This includes:
- No loud or abusive behavior by words or actions directed at anyone – this includes players on the courts and by-standers waiting to play
- No alcoholic beverages on or near the courts
- No glass bottles of any kind
Pickleball Tournaments: Any pickleball-specific events and or tournaments must be pre-approved by SBCC and if necessary, gain approval from the SBCC Board.
Equipment:
- It is expected that players use suppression and noise-reducing paddles
- All nets, paddles, and balls must be cleared from courts after use
- Shoes and Dress: Proper attire required (shirts for men, tennis attire for women)
- Non-marking flat court shoes are to be always worn. Shirts must be always worn.
